Subject: GRACE AND TRUTH
Author: Weldon Pior
Date: 12/28/2006
Body: John 1:14 & 17 Amplified Bible “And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. 17 For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ. [Exod. 20:1].”

Herein, is the heart of God’s redemption in Christ Jesus expressed. The Word which the Father has been speaking to man has become flesh. In the person of Jesus the heart, thought and action of the Father is revealed. Jesus lived out the His commands and revealed His kind intent.

Jesus brought Grace and Truth. The Father’s desire to equip and empower men to live by His edicts and commands is manifest. Grace is extended to men who will call upon the Lord to obey Him. Jesus lived by the empowering grace of God. The marvel is that the Son of God became a man to redeem mankind. This is Grace. This is Divine favor. This is Divine loving-kindness and tender mercies. This is the mystery hidden in God since the foundation of the world and almost beyond the ability of finite man to appreciate and certainly not invented by such men.

God has been speaking from the beginning asking men to hear and receive the Rhema of God. That transforming Word is God’s method to conform men into His image. He has never ceased to speak and now ultimately He has spoken this latest Word by Jesus Christ who came to dwell among us revealing the glory of the Father (Hebrews 1). “Let him who has ears to hear, hear the Word of the Lord.” Be careful how you hear for as you hear and to the degree you heed the Word received so shall you reap and come into the Kingdom. To that degree will you realize conformity to the Son.

It was as if the Father could not be seen and needed Jesus to be the Divine Outraying of His glory for man to finally see. “Glory” means “the manifestation that reveals the nature and character of.” Jesus is that Glory and we are privileged to see and behold it. Now that glory is working in us conforming us to His Glory or His very nature as we receive the Rhema and act upon it.

In His giving of Himself for our sins we see the magnitude of the Grace and Mercy of God. When we were without God in the world and unable to help ourselves or approach Him Christ died for us. When we were enemies and haters of God He sent His Son to recover us to Himself. All need to see the depth of the abyss of sin and the abject weakness in which we were caught to appreciate the Grace and Mercy extended to us. Christ died for ungodly rebellious unmerciful men to restore them to the Father’s Purpose. (Romans 5:8-10) (See library for full article.)
